I took a job walking a pipeline from Wyoming to Bakersfield California. I did this job purely to make enough money to take a trip for about a year. I want to go to to Australia and up into South East Asia then into China and leave from Japan. So along the way of my walk, I'll be showing pictures of the interesting things I come across. I kind of wish I had my camera earlier because I've seen some crazy stuff. But from here on out I'll be making this kind of a picture blog of the stuff that happens to me along the way. So read along as I walk... and walk... and walk. Like pioneer children. so... my first picture.
This is a fence that is an entrance to a compressor station. This is normally where we would start for the day. So... Exciting..

One of the best things about this job isn't waking up at 4 a.m. every day. But just because I do, I get to see amazing sunrises. I never get to see the sunset. I'm asleep normally by 8 p.m. If you look close you can see big windmills on the hill. We walked through a wind farm. So as you can see today Aug 8th 2010 they were in the distance. But none the less... The red clouds were beautiful. After walking over what seemed like 2 mountain ranges we came up on this river. Its the Bear river that comes down from the Uinta mountains. This same river goes though the Boy Scout camp I worked at when I was in Jr. High, Camp Tomahawk. But there is only way to get through a river on this job.
We walk though it. When you have water proof boots on the water gets in via the top and doesn't come out. So, I emptied out my boots after getting out only to find more rivers and a small pond I had to walk though. It was great. My feet looked like prunes when I got home today.

My job description changes about every day. As part of my job today I was turned into a cattle rancher. This is one group of two I had to move to move by yelling things like "GET!" or "GO ON!" These were words I thought they might understand. It sounds like something I had heard on movies and it worked then. Boy was I right. It worked. But as you can see, the cows were amused by looking at me while I yelled "GET ON BOY!" I had to run and wave my arms to get them to actually move. My boots were still full of water while I did this.

Many times while I'm walking I run up upon things that are kind of cool. Today I walked up on a pile of metal that somewhat resembled an old tractor. Basically I could only tell by the seat but cool none the less.

I found this deer like this... I wonder who hit him... ha ha!
