Today much similar to other days on the pipeline I walked a lot. 8.5 miles to be exact. We started our day out walking up a somewhat small hill and it soon planed out. The Sunrise was beautiful. Up until that point it was pretty cold. I wear a sweater every morning but the wind here in Wyoming is bone chilling. I need a wind breaker or something other than a small sweater from Forever 21 to keep me warm.
This is the sunrise today Aug 9th 2010. Those clouds soon rained on me. Well, those clouds and their much larger friends.

After the sun came up it turned the green sage into a bright yellow. It was really not that bad to walk though first thing in the morning. As you can see, the clouds that soon rained on us. But not for too long. I ended up jumping in the water truck till it passed. Which I was lucky because my friend James gave me a naked juice. I forgot how good those are. If you haven't had one go try the Green Machine. Its amazing.

Speaking of the water truck, I wrote this on the back of it to help the Texans I work with feel more at home. Ya'll. Speaking of Texans Dave Newland excluded have some funny words they say. Of course Ya'll. This is an actual sentence I heard one of them say. "Ya'll get over heer and help load the trook (truck) right quick and we're goin to get up yander and get some weerk (work) done." Then he spit his chew. I decided to keep the racest comments and expletive words out. I think the Texan's are having an effect on me. I found myself tapping my foot to country music today. I quickly stopped and played it cool.
We had some down time because we found some pipe that wasn't deep enough so I took a little nap. I wasn't sleeping in the picture yet because I was taking the picture but I soon fell asleep in this position. I woke up to put my leg down because it fell asleep. As for finding things this was the only real notable one. A bathtub. Where it came from I don't know. There wasn't a road leading up to it. It was in the middle of a dirt field. I used it as a seat for a bit. I ate some wonderful beef jerky on it.

This was my breakfast and lunch. Yummm...

I took a job walking a pipeline from Wyoming to Bakersfield California. I did this job purely to make enough money to take a trip for about a year. I want to go to to Australia and up into South East Asia then into China and leave from Japan. So along the way of my walk, I'll be showing pictures of the interesting things I come across. I kind of wish I had my camera earlier because I've seen some crazy stuff. But from here on out I'll be making this kind of a picture blog of the stuff that happens to me along the way. So read along as I walk... and walk... and walk. Like pioneer children. so... my first picture.
This is a fence that is an entrance to a compressor station. This is normally where we would start for the day. So... Exciting..

One of the best things about this job isn't waking up at 4 a.m. every day. But just because I do, I get to see amazing sunrises. I never get to see the sunset. I'm asleep normally by 8 p.m. If you look close you can see big windmills on the hill. We walked through a wind farm. So as you can see today Aug 8th 2010 they were in the distance. But none the less... The red clouds were beautiful. After walking over what seemed like 2 mountain ranges we came up on this river. Its the Bear river that comes down from the Uinta mountains. This same river goes though the Boy Scout camp I worked at when I was in Jr. High, Camp Tomahawk. But there is only way to get through a river on this job.
We walk though it. When you have water proof boots on the water gets in via the top and doesn't come out. So, I emptied out my boots after getting out only to find more rivers and a small pond I had to walk though. It was great. My feet looked like prunes when I got home today.

My job description changes about every day. As part of my job today I was turned into a cattle rancher. This is one group of two I had to move to move by yelling things like "GET!" or "GO ON!" These were words I thought they might understand. It sounds like something I had heard on movies and it worked then. Boy was I right. It worked. But as you can see, the cows were amused by looking at me while I yelled "GET ON BOY!" I had to run and wave my arms to get them to actually move. My boots were still full of water while I did this.

Many times while I'm walking I run up upon things that are kind of cool. Today I walked up on a pile of metal that somewhat resembled an old tractor. Basically I could only tell by the seat but cool none the less.

I found this deer like this... I wonder who hit him... ha ha!
